The Greater Eastehouse Alcohol Awareness Project
Schools
Schools

Our prevention and education team delivers its award winning, alcohol awareness programme to the primary schools located in the east of Glasgow.

Starting in primary six with four sessions of alcohol awareness and followed a year later with another four sessions in primary seven. These fun and interactive alcohol awareness sessions are designed to inform young people about alcohol related issues so that they are in a better position to make a more informed choice about its use. We also cover life skills such as decision making and assertiveness skills and the young people learn to use these skills in role play scenarios within the classroom.

All sessions are complimented by the use of GEAAP’s unique alcohol awareness booklets which are completed by the young people in the classroom. The young people are able to take the booklets home when completed and this can stimulate discussion in the home about alcohol related issues. Alcohol awareness inputs are also delivered to the secondary schools of Greater Easterhouse. Inputs can be tailored to individual class or school needs.
