The Greater Eastehouse Alcohol Awareness Project
Counselling / Support & Information

The aim of counselling is to help you to identify and deal with the problems you feel you have. Counselling consists of a series of private meetings between you and your counsellor where you will be supported to talk through your concerns. You will normally attend weekly appointments with each appointment lasting roughly an hour.

If you attend for counselling you will be given the choice of a male or female counsellor and an appointment will be offered at a time and location that suits your needs.

Everything that you and your counsellor talk about is confidential between you, your counsellor and this project. All our counsellors are fully trained and are not allowed to pass any information about you or your problems to anyone outside the project, without your permission.

Under certain circumstances we may be obliged to pass information on if ordered to do so by the police, or if it was felt someone else was in danger or at risk from what you were telling us. However this would be fully discussed with you.

How long you keep coming for counselling is up to you and your counsellor, it could be for a few weeks or a few months.

You may feel awkward or nervous about coming for counselling, don’t worry, most people feel the same way and your counsellor will full understand this.
